Adult Ministries
Our goal: to present every man and woman "perfect in Christ" (Colossians 1:28). Though our childhood Sunday School days are long past, men and women still need biblical teaching beyond the sermon, and they need friendship and interaction beyond the worship service. We work to meet those needs in a variety of ways.
Adult classes meet each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Together in a casual setting, we learn how to apply the Bible to life and we develop friendships. This is a great step for those who say, "I'd like to get to know some other people here." See the Adult Sunday Morning Classes page for more details.
Small Groups are one way we promote strong relationships between individuals, couples and families, and live out on any given day that which we learned on Sunday. In a church our size, it's impossible for a pastor or even a group of elders to know everyone intimately. In our small groups, the goal is for members to be cared for by one another and by a responsible shepherd/leader. We study, share, pray, and most of all are family to one another. Small Groups are offered in different locations (many in private homes) and on different evenings through the week. Most of these are open to new members. If you are interested in more information on our Small Groups, or in joining an existing group, please call or email the church office.
Evening Prayer is where the real work of Brick Lane is done. We can pour countless hours into preparing services, reaching out to people in need and teaching Sunday classes, but unless God is working through our efforts, nothing of value will be accomplished. This is why we spend every Sunday evening from 6:00-7:00 PM in prayer for our church, our community, and our world. Each week features a different theme, and on most weeks requests are provided on paper to help get our thoughts rolling. We also sing! Many people have found that the informal atmosphere on Sunday evenings enables them to more easily meet others at church.
Brick Lane Women and Brick Lane Men exist to meet the unique needs of these groups. Brick Lane Women offers weekly Bible studies open to all women (with babysitting for morning groups). Our teachers (if we say so ourselves) are phenomenal; hundreds of women, their marriages and families have been richly helped by God through these groups over the years. Additionally, Brick Lane Women sponsors socials and an annual retreat. Brick Lane Men offers a couple of weekly study groups, a weekly early morning gathering, and activities as diverse as biking and book-discussion groups, There are occasional Saturday morning breakfasts with teaching, mentoring, and a yearly retreat. For more information, please click on Brick Lane Women or Brick Lane Men and watch our bulletin for specific announcements.
Counselor Kathy Eberly leads Our Counseling Ministry. You need not be an attender of Brick Lane to meet with her, and our services are free. One of the most-used counseling services we offer is pre-marital counseling, required of all couples married by a Brick Lane pastor.
